Reading Antonio Gramsci’s Prison Notebooks
Sun, June 4 @ 11:00 AM - 12:30 PMFree – $80.00
In these sessions led by Piruz Alemi, we will continue to study selected passages from Antonio Gramsci’s Prison Notebooks. We delve into key themes and concepts related to civil society and state: politics and the arts, racism, class and gender, religion, linguistics, and other methods of analysis, critical theory, mass media, and cinema, hegemony, and subaltern studies, as well as the role of intellectuals and activists in discovering new methods and languages to be transformative. A Gramscian “Past & Present” approach is key to our work.
Throughout these sessions, we will attempt to connect our own cultures and life experiences with contemporary struggles such as those unfolding in the Woman, Life, Freedom movement in Iran.
Participation in previous sessions is not a requirement – all are welcome to join.
