Readings will be short and accessible excerpts from writings by Marx and Engels or later Marxists. Birth of the Binge: Serial TV and The End of Leisure is an attempt to alter the way serial television is viewed by, instead of starting with the shows themselves or with serial fandom, first integrating the form, which began at the opening of the neoliberal era in the early 1980s, into ongoing processes of the digital economy.

This fall, we will study this watershed period (1968-1974) considering the achievements and failures of the Left in the 1960s.
