Support the MEP

Marxist Education Project

We need your support

As of September 2024, all Marxist Education Project classes and reading groups are free of charge. Your tax-deductible donation enables us to continue this practice and cover hosting and website, email communications, video archive and more.

In addition to ongoing operational expenses, we need to raise additional funds in 2025 to

  • Continue to expand and diversify our programming;
  • Offer more in-person events and classes, which involve venue rentals;
  • Complete the upgrade of our website for a smoother registration process; and
  • Hire a part-time administrative assistant.

For almost fifty years, activists, organizers, students, and scholars have relied on the steady programming of the MEP and our predecessor organizations to ground their understanding, deepen their commitment, and advance their work. We began with a unique movement-based approach to teaching Marx’s Capital and other classic writings. Over the years we have expanded to cover a range of theoretical, political, historical, and literary topics of practical and strategic importance to new generations in the movement. Our free registration now extends our long-standing commitment to programs at low cost for those who can afford it, and at no cost to those who cannot.

 In 2022 we reached a crossroads. Forced by the pandemic to abruptly adapt to an online format, we had begun to breathe more easily and strategize about what comes next. Sadly, we suddenly faced the loss of Michael Lardner–a deep operational, leadership, and spiritual loss. Looking ahead to a new future, Michael had started us on the path to incorporating as a 501c3 nonprofit. The initial core volunteer team Michael had assembled has now completed that transition.

You may now make tax-deductible donations to support our work, one-time or monthly. Your support will improve our scheduling and organizing of events. It will also enable us to operate more strategically. We recognize our need to expand our outreach to new generations of organizers and organizations. We need to ensure we reach new authors and leaders. And your support will enable us to more flexibly program in association with publishers, other political education initiatives, and front-line organizations.

Please continue to register for our reading groups, classes. and events. Your generous donation of any amount to accompany such registrations will help us to continue to change and evolve alongside the movement itself. We will communicate further from time to time as we progress toward the priorities we have set.
